Manager likes watching businesses flourish, with a successful marketing campaign

Advertising sales manager Mike Morrison works closely with his staff to insure the best possible service and results for Press-Republican customers. He plays a key role in product development, which in addition to the daily newspaper, includes magazines, special publications and Internet marketing. He also is responsible for training ad reps in marketing and customer service skills.

One of Mike’s favorite parts about his job is watching a new business succeed. Many of the small, start-ups he’s worked with over the years are still around. When they first come in, they’re scared to death, you can see it in their eyes,” he says. “It’s great to watch them succeed.”

With more than 20 years of newspaper marketing and sales experience, Mike previously worked more than nine years in circulation and sales marketing at the Burlington Free Press in Vermont. He has a proven sales record that facilitated his career growth through several promotions, including many management positions.

Mike attributes his success to his “street level knowledge of the customers’ needs he gained by providing one-on-one service over the years. One two occasions, Mike was nominated and attended training at the American Press Institute of Professional Development in Reston, Va.

Mike lives with his family in the Plattsburgh area, where he enjoys sports and outdoors activities.
